YAG Calendar

Sunday services at FirstParish (3 Church Street, Harvard Square) start at 10:30, followed by a coffee hour. The Young Adult Group meets informally for lunch every Sunday after the coffee hour. This is an easy way to meet people and find out more about YAG.

Worship: Meditation

This Tuesday evening (9/30) at 7:30 pm, we will be gathering at First Parish for a worship centered on meditation.

Whether you have never tried to meditate before, or are an experienced follower of a certain practice, all are welcome to join us as we explore several forms of quieting the mind and attaining a state of inner peace.

I will give an introduction on each practice so please don't feel uncomfortable about any lack of experience, or if meditation has
never "worked" for you in the past. Both silent and guided meditation styles will be part of this worship.

I look forward to seeing all of you Tuesday night!

Please email me with any questions or suggestions at gspeters23@yahoo.com.

Growing Older Today

What does growing older mean to you?
How do you feel about your next birthday? Your next decade?
Do you feel out of sync with your generation? Has your self-esteem grown stronger or weaker?
Are "alone" and "aging" a frightening combination of words?
What are the pros and cons of growing older while living alone?
How can one keep viable the lifestlye of living alone as we age?
These are just some possible questions we will explore at the next Women's Discussion Group. Come join us for socializing and sharing!

This group is open to women of all ages and all topics of interest to women in the UUA community.

Sustenance for the Soul: Community Building

YAG's mission statement starts "We are a welcoming, inclusive and supportive community...". But how do you actually build community besides by attending church and YAG events? Community building happens through building relationships and getting to know people beyond their names, where they live, what they do, and how they came to First Parish.

This Tuesday (7 pm to gather, 7:30 to start), people who have been involved with YAG from 2 days to 2 years (or more or less!) are invited to a night dedicated to building relationships, learning about people on deeper levels, and building a foundation for our YAG community and our spiritual development pathways. Oh, and it will all be fun. We'll be doing interactives exercises and games that will allow everyone to participate on a level that's comfortable for them.

This night of community building will take place the first Tuesday of every month, and will build on itself each month as we continually explore our relationships and what it means to be a YAG community.

Please drop me a quick email/line if you plan to attend, to get a sense of numbers (for chair-set up and planning, and, yes, even if you forget to do this, you can still come!)

If you have any questions or suggestions, feel free to email me at wjebens@hotmail.com or give me a call at work - (617) 536 4266 x 306.

See you Tuesday!
Wendy

Volunteer @ Rosie's Place

Come serve dinner to Rosie's Place - "a refuge for poor women". We'll be setting up, serving snacks (soup, etc.), helping to prepare food (like huge tossed salads, etc.), putting together plates, serving the women (and possibly their children), and cleaning up. Added bonus includes playing with the kids!

Rosie's Place is a GREAT place to volunteer. Everyone's very nice and the whole place is very upbeat! All that - plus a free dinner!

We'll meet at the church at 3:15 to head over. Or meet us over there at 4pm.

Rosie's is right by the Boston Medical Center. Accessible via bus (#1) or car. For more info, contact Kendra OR check out www.rosies.org.

Hope to see you there!
