SftS: Worship

Hi folks,

Yes, the fourth Tuesday is here. The month is almost over (gasp!) and
it's time for the YAG worship.

Tonight worship will be a contemplation on how one's humanity can best
be understood through community, and the importance this has for healing
and reconciliation. As usual, we'll be gathering at 7pm at First
Parish (Church Street entrance), and starting at 7:30.

Hope to see you there!

Bowling tonight at Sacco's

Sorry for sending this out late, but here's the plan:

Bowling tonight at Sacco's:
http://www.saccosbowlhaven.com/
45 Day Street, Somerville, MA

We'll meet up around 8pm.
I just called and they said that they usually get busier after 9:30, so at
that time, we should be allright.

Those who are interested in meeting up for dinner, let's meet up at 7 pm
in the courtyard in davis square in front of JP Licks where the statues
are, and decide where we want to go from there.

Since i am cell phone lacking, here is Greg's number if you want to find
us: (781) 475-0389

See you all tonight!

SftS: Community Building

Hi all,

Marcus and I, inspired by one of our recent worship services, have put together a community building session based around storytelling. Bring your creativity and your stories!

We will begin gathering at 7.00 and start around 7.30. We'll also reserve some time at the end for planning this month's social events.

Hope you can join us,

Tiffany

Creative Sharing Night / Show and Tell

Sunday, April 9
Creative Sharing Night / Show and Tell
TIME: 6:30PM
LOCATION: 30d Jacqueline Road, Waltham
CONTACT: Evan Bernstein, 781-788-0820, evan@foo.net

Bring a guitar, bring two. Bring a poem that you've written, or a passage
from a piece of literature that you like. Bring a painting that you've
made or some crayons to draw with. Dance for us. Bring a treat for
people to munch on that you've made.

Note, no pressure to prepare something, you can enjoy the evening as an
audience member: the more the merrier!

Gather together in a friendly environment to share things with other
people. Whether it's something that you've created, adapted or just
something that you admire: share it with us.

Examples from past experience: singing songs, bringing pastries, reading
passages from books, showing off a quilt, dancing, performing a monologue
or a scene, reading a poem. Feel free to use one of these or come up with
your own.

I will coordinate rides so please contact me if you need one or have one
to give. Also, just respond with a quick thought of whether or not you
might make it, so i have an idea of who is coming.

I might be making some food (veggie chili), or we could order pizza, or
eat before hand, or whatever.

I look forward to seeing all of you.

Have a great spring day!

-evan

SftS: Spiritual Discussion

Hi all,

The spiritual discussion this Tuesday will focus on unselfish love and
decision-making.

Do our circumstances determine our feelings, or do our feelings
determine our circumstances, or both?

Does true happiness come out of being of service to others?

Have we had time in our lives where a small act of love or kindness
made a profound impact on us? Come prepared to share if you're so moved.

What can we do to be present to the consequences of our actions and
decisions before we take them?

See you all on Tuesday. Gather at 7 in the nursery, start at 7:30.

Wake up and Smell the Coffee

Hi, all. The one-man comedy show which I'm assistant stage-managing
is offering free admission on this Thursday night, 'cause currently
we've got no one coming on this last weekend. Yes, seriously no one.
This is "Wake Up And Smell The Coffee" by Eric Bogosian and it makes
fun of religion, modern culture, sex, and other things like that in a
style which is, as we say these days, 'in-your-face.' The venue is in
Charlestown; if you want to come, send me an email. Here's the URL to
our theatermirror rave:

Spring/Easter Brunch

Hi YAG,
In celebration of Spring and Easter, I am holding a
“cheap champagne and good food” YAG brunch this Sunday
at my place. Please come! And bring along any
significant others or family members who would like to
join. It will be at my apartment near Harvard Square,
about a 12 min walk from the church, near the Mt.
Auburn Hospital. If you drive, you can park on the
street since it’ll be Sunday. No particular time:
folks can just meander over after services and the
Burial Ground Egg Hunt.
Please let me know if you’re planning to come (by
Friday if you can), so that I know how many stomachs
to cook for and give you directions.
Looking forward to seeing you all, and hope that you
are well!

StfS: Community Building

Sharks and minnows, predator/prey, sleeping lions – do you remember these games? Do we spend enough time in our lives being playful? Just in case a dose of silliness is in order, for our Community Building evening tomorrow (Tuesday) night, we will remind ourselves of what it is like to spend time in a child-like, creative state, using multiple senses and our imaginations for the sake of play. After check-in and before planning the social activities for the coming month, we will return together to the days of elementary school … and Rainy Day Recess.

Time: gather at 7:00 pm being at 7:30 pm
