Movie: Super-size Me!

Interested in joining us for this new film? If so,

from www.coolidge.org: What would happen if you ate nothing but McDonald's fast food for an entire month? In SUPER SIZE ME, a scathingly tongue-in-cheek documentary of epic "portions," filmmaker Morgan Spurlock does just that in an effort to explore why America has become the fattest nation on earth. Limited to only items on the fast food menu for 30 days, Spurlock starts out in peak physical condition, and in less than a month his cholesterol level skyrockets, his liver grows clogged with fat, and he gains 25 pounds. Along the way, Spurlock interviews experts and regular eaters around the country, including Houston, the "Fattest City" in America. From Surgeon Generals to gym teachers, cooks to kids, lawmakers to legislators, these authorities share their research, opinions and "gut feelings" not just on fast food, but on school lunch programs, food addictions and the extreme measures people take to lose weight and regain their health. Filmed in a personal (and personable) style, SUPER SIZE ME is both funny and harrowing, personalizing the warnings in the runaway bestseller "Fast Food Nation", and chomping into the legal, financial, and physical costs of America's hunger for fast food. "Would you like fries with that?" will never sound the same! dir. Morgan Spurlock, documentary, 1h38m Official film site - filled with photos, breaking news, and many more details:

Sunday, May 9

Service: "I Do!"

Jory Agate preaching, "I Do!" On May 17, gay and lesbian couples will be permitted to marry in the State of Massachusetts. Unfortunately, this is also a time when we are seeing an increase in hostility, lies and propaganda against the gay and lesbian community. Sadly, much of this hatred is being generated by religious communities. On this Mother's Day, come let us gather and celebrate families created in love. There will also be a child dedication as part of the service. ASL interpreter: Amy Lanassa
