YAG Calendar

Sunday services at FirstParish (3 Church Street, Harvard Square) start at 10:30, followed by a coffee hour. The Young Adult Group meets informally for lunch every Sunday after the coffee hour. This is an easy way to meet people and find out more about YAG.

Men's Discussion Group

I'm really honored to accept the role of facilitator of the YAG Men's = Discussion Group. It means a lot to me to have such a thoughtful, = self-aware, expressive bunch of young men as we have at First Parish. = If you haven't come out for the discussions yet, I urge you to do so! Continuing the tradition of first-Wednesday-of-the-month discussions, = the November date falls on the first of the month, just six days before = Election Day. With that in mind, I'd like to propose "Leaders" as next = month's topic. =20 What makes a leader? Are different kinds of leaders appropriate for = different situations? Are men better or more natural or a different = style of leaders than women? Do we, as young men, feel like we "should" = be good leaders? Is leadership innate or can it be learned? Who are = our model leaders? As voters, should we elect men and women on the = basis of their ability to lead, or should we "stick to the issues"?

Discussion

This Wednesday (tomorrow!) at 7PM at the church we'll be having a discussion about travelling. As many of you know I've been travelling quite a bit lately, at least by my standards, and it's given me some questions that I'd like to hear other folks' thoughts on: Do you have to change yourself to fully experience a new place? How have your expectations of a place compared to what you found? How did that difference affect your experience? When you're travelling, are you present in the moment, or thinking about friends back home? ... and so forth. Come share your experiences of travel: domestic, foreign, near or far. Or share your dreams of travel, or your fears. See you there. -E r i c
