Tips/Info:
- The social action people would probably want to organize some volunteer events, but not to the point where it becomes a chore or at times where they don't have time to do it. A big part of their role should be encouragement and support of others hosting these events and recordkeeping/documentation (see below).
Recordkeeping

When setting up a volunteer activity:
- Setting up a date and working out details often involves some back and forth emails/phone calls-it is sometimes a good idea to set up the date in a month before the related planning meeting occurs so that date can be reserved.
- Determine from volunteer organization contact a range of desired volunteers and if we need to commit to having a certain number. Keep this in mind when typing up blurb for calendar/reminder emails
- Once a date is set, contact the communication facilitators to reserve it on the calendar.
Miscellaneous
- Keep an eye out for what social action First Parish is doing. Maybe we could get involved.
- The Brookline church has a large amount of social action activities. We may be able to join them on some of theirs or learn from them.
- Be ready to describe YAG, First Parish and Unitarian Universalism to the organizations we volunteer at. We represent YAG and First Parish. Due to the small size of our religion and misunderstandings about what we are about, instances of contact with other individuals and organizations are often are cases of us representing our religion too.
- Volunteer events could involve us teaming up with other groups, inside or outside the church.
