Key Holders
# of people: up to 4 people (current members).
Desired Results:
- YAG is able to use the church building for events.
Guidelines:
- Commit for at least 4 months. Let wheel committee know in advance of desire to step down. Return keys before an extended absence.
- Keep in mind our mission statement and our UU principles.
- According to church policy, key holders should be members, contributing friends, or, as exceptions, other persons known as having an affiliation with and a commitment to being at First Parish (likely to stay active). YAG should look to have 4 keyholders who are people who are fairly active in YAG and likely to stay active for the near future.
- It is extremely important that YAG uses the church facilities responsibly both to protect the building form damage and theft. The keyholder at events is the main person to be responsible to lock doors, close windows, not let strangers in and otherwise follow the building use guidelines provided by the church, and read the additional tips below.
Resources:
- Building use guide, provided by the church, gives guidelines and tips on how the building works and what the responsibilities are for those who use it.
- The Wheel Committee.
- The church administrator fphsq@aol.com, (617-876-7772) handles the distribution of church keys.
Checking In:
- As needed, check in with the Wheel Committee. Let the Wheel Committee know in advance of your desire to pass on keys.
Tips/Info:
- If a keyholder shifts most of their activity from one YAG to another group, and would like to serve as keyholder for that other group, the keyholder should consider contacting the church administrator to transfer his or her own category as a keyholder in the church's key ledger with the goal of YAG having 4 keyholders who are active in YAG activities.
- YAG should try to have a balance between males and female keyholders to make gender specific events possible.
